05-29-17 A lot of pictures!

05-29-17 Today is Memorial Day - thinking a very nice day :)

@ 4:44 am Good morning!  Oh, did you see our very big picture of “Sunday Cleaning?”  Hehehe. It is very heroic if I don’t say so indeed!  BUT, we did all that!  AND, did you notice after very long last … the Hard floors were cleaned!  WooHOO!  I know, I know … wasn’t like we wrote the Declaration of Independence … Just that it was SUCH a big deal for us to get over.  After we show Dr. Marvin, then the tasks are officially over, but wanted to say, we ARE very proud of ourselves – Go TEAM!

I see … that’s all you got?  Yeeks.  Maybe we should read the last blog entry to see where we’ve gotten up to, k? Ok, we’re still reading over at the blog, but we figured this picture will tide you over for a few moments.  This is a very accurate picture of what today looks like hehe

Well pretty accurate, but we’re not having dinner with ourselves, we are having it with Rich – that had been copied over from his Trello.  AND, we’d already moved over the card that says, “Collect Stats (weight, b/s, b/p, pulse & steps), take care of the dog & medicine & talk to Rich” Yup-yup ... that’s an important card that happens every morning.  Back to reading in the blog.  Hmm, we are reading along and we’re thinking … do you know what we’re talking about when we mention different things like inbox, numbering items and then moving them from table of contents, to master notes, and then to monthly overview.  That’s such an important part of our day … for a couple of minutes, would it be ok, if we gave that another look?  We’re good with the camera this morning *silly grin* Ok, first there is no sense in showing a picture of the inbox … well maybe.  It’s pretty much a big hole right now, because there is nothing in it.  I know … we’ll put the picture we just took of today’s events that will show you SOMETHING in the inbox.

Don’t forget you can click these pictures to make them bigger. I’ll try to explain a little about what you are looking at.  A couple of lines down in the top left corner, you can see under the highlighted blue line, that we’ve turned to our “Inbox” Don’t worry too much about all those other things in the black space, that to go over another day.  The next “column” is almost all a white space, but at the top it says you are viewing 1 note in *Inbox.  This is the situation over there … sometimes things in one’s inbox adds up … we’ve had up to about 93 things in there once.  I try to keep it though 20 items or less.

The one item that is there is a small window which is the marker for what’s in the third window – which is the picture above we were just referencing of our Trello column labeled “In Progress – Today.” Remember, we were going to put it in as an entry in the inbox?  You may note that the Title says “Trello – Ann Garvey 05-28-17 2.jpg”.  This is the way it comes from the label I gave it when saving it to the picture file.  This is important in a sec.

The next stage of things that come into the Inbox, is that we must put it in its proper place, which is in our present system – to the month notebook.  All the labels in the left hand black column are notebooks and the individual item or note such as Trello – Ann Garvey, etc. well those are notes within a notebook.  In this case the notebook is called “Inbox.” PLEASE excuse me if this is simplified too much.  Just trying to clarify where you are in being able to understand as we flip from one thing to the next.  I should have done it earlier.  I’m sorry.  Well, anyway, the next step is that we are going to put this note in another notebook, this time called, “*2017 05 May Work/File (263).”  It’s just easier to start with everything in the inbox – because sometimes there we group multiple notes to one note, or delete things if it isn’t important.

There is a little blue box right under the bigger title that says “Inbox” and under that is a hmm, forgot what those windows are called.  You know where you touch them and a whole list of other options appear?  Well, one of the options is to choose the 2017 May file noted above.  That changes the little blue box to the above label for 2017 May and off we go over to that notebook, which is MUCH bigger … you may have noted the (263) after its title.  This is the number of notes in this notebook already.  This is what the new notebook looks like when we open it.

Again, remember to click to enlarge the picture.

This is like the picture of the inbox, but much more filled in – though the black column is almost the same.  Under the Reminders, you might notice that the last time I was using this feature was for notes filed toward May 1rst and 2nd.  That was part of the problem Trello solved for us.  We’d stopped using the Evernote “time/date” reminder system and we still don’t know why, but we’ve got a MUCH better system with Trello.  Enough of that for now though.  In the same column in the Reminder column though is the start of our note collection.  In this picture, they are all reflecting 05-01-17 date.  That’s because we have it loaded alphabetically.  Also, why we use the asterisks – so we can keep some import things up on top of the list. We’re going to the bottom of this column in a sec, but wanted you to notice in the big column to the right – is my first note ****05-01-17 May 2017 – Table of Contents.

Basically, if we’re up here … every month for the last three months since we’ve started back at Evernote, we have made a note with the table of contents for the month.  The month system, we just made up to progress time in a tidy manner. It contains links to EVERY note written on each day of that month.  They are live, so if you click on any one of them, it will take you to the original note or document/picture, etc.  For the time being, we are going to go to the bottom now of the middle column to get to the current date – which is right now 5-29-17.  It is noted too that it is only 5:53 AM, so we haven’t gotten a lot of notes for the day.  Each of the three columns scroll independently, but we’ll take another picture.  We also scrolled down the bottom of the third column with the table of contents

Hmm, small break there … who in the world eats salad at 6 am in the morning.  Must be someone trying a new lifestyle of healthy eating *frump* Back to business …

This last picture is like the others … same three columns, but at the bottom of the middle column, you might notice our note that we’d first seen at the index notebook.  It was transferred over, but is still missing an essential ingredient.  Basically, Things pretty much title themselves – usually it’s the same as the first line typed in the third column, but what we do at this stage, is we add the date AND a number for each note.  The entry we’re going to relabel now is going to be called, “05-29-17 01 Trello – Ann Garvey 05-28-17 2.jpg.  I could change the Title description too, and most often do the label to reflect something more notable to us.  It helps us remember better what the contents of the note is.  The important this is that the note gets a date and an item number.  You might notice also in the middle column the notes that happen to be at the top of the page start at 05-28-01, the day before, and they number themselves 01 and beyond to 09.  Just the number of notes that happened on that day.

In the third larger page, you can see that we are still on the Table of Contents, but we are now at the bottom of the page because the dates are more current.  Now that the last note for our picture of the Trello column is dated and numbered, we do a right click and copy using the link maker … well sort of.  It says, “Copy Note Link.”  After copying, we paste it to the Table of Contents.
After we have an updated Table of Contents for the day, or at least for the time we are copying links, we next bring it to the Master Notes for May.  This isn’t a real big deal … Just that I thought it much better to look at and utilize with so much more visible for any given week.  It’s the same notes as the table of contents, but it is in a calendar format. I’ll show you the picture

You are probably used to the general format of Evernote by now, but this time we are interested in the third column – the one primarily covered by green links.  Yup-yup ... every one of those bad boys is its own link back to the original note.  I am getting a LOT out of every day of my life.  The things here in some way highlight our progress, and in some ways, we seem to improve as we go along, but it’s a very long story starting back in 2003 and hopefully going to reach one day, at LEAST until our “supposed retirement in 2024.  But, that’s not the important thing here.  Hopefully, that date will just be a marker where produced blog entries and posts to Amazon’s e-books come together as both written and then published.  The one lonely note we’ve been working on as a demonstration is hiding under Week 5, but we figured, we’d show you last week May 22-28 (without scrolling all the way down to catch the full note load for the day).

Here I would like to stop for a moment.  Sometimes, we like to “surmise” what’s happened up to now.  We’re going to skim through all those notes in the picture, to see what occurs to us.  Hmm, deleted that double entry on the 23rd, but the next thing we notice is some of the labels with a colon: Sometimes we put a teaser there to tell us what’s coming up like Writing, NEWS, Capture, Trello or Meeting.

This part should be self-obvious.  Again, we apologize, but these are the kinds of thing we like to collect – it’s better know we’re on the same page.  We’re a part of various writing groups that send us good stuff.  We choose from that what interests us, and that gets sent to our inbox.  AND, we like to keep track of just the headline news, but that’s tracked too.  The stuff from our “Capture” – well that’s our Clarity journal where we put all our handwritten notes.  We take pictures of that and upload it to Evernote Inbox. Trello is information placed on that board – you’ve seen this this morning, and Meetings are things that end up in the Inbox automatically from our Google calendar.  There’s all kinds of stuff on the Master Notes, but these are some of those common foothill areas.

@ 6:55 am Back!  We weren’t gone too long, but we read through the titles and had some nice warm feelings.  It’s always a surprise to the brain to think – hey there’s that thought we were thinking … like I see the words “Manchester bombing” and all those pictures of ambulances, kids running, and so forth flood my mind, but just for a moment because my eyes are still scanning and then we note that Jill and Chris were here – that’s more calming, or that we’d remembered organizing the receipts – we check that off as productive use of time.  These things are important – maybe even more so because we are a writer and the details are significant in telling the story of who we are.  We read this information too – it helps to bring us together as a Multiple to see that, we had full days.

The other thing that happened was that Rich woke up.  He made coffee as is his habit, and we were served čśŐ … after the first cup, we do the serving of him, but the first cup brought over – woo! What a treat!  He went right to fishy shows and we gave him and Dakota shoulder rubs as he explained what he was seeing.  We’ve got a separate devise where he can look at videos of Lake Vermillion in MN through Youtube – that’s where he’s going.  I had thought it was in Canada, but it’s just on this side of the Canadian border.  Then, we loosely went over his schedule so he knew he was good with watching fishy shows and relaxing.  He said, I guess you have all kinds of work for me to do, but there really wasn’t much work.  I think he was pleased, and THEN he added a few more things.  This is what he has for himself – nice day!

Well maybe the bathroom issues aren’t so much fun, but OTHERWISE … considering he has a trip coming up and there is a lot to do … he’s ok, like he’s mostly packed and has a lot of his fishing gear together.  *warm smile* It’s a holiday.

I know … Memorial Day we need to spend some private time appreciating.  Maybe the most significant thing here is that we watched a segment on 60 Minutes last night about a vet named Col. Ben Skardon, who was almost 100 years old.  During WWII 75 years ago, he and other POWS were forced on the “Bataan Death March.” He now walks annually at least 8 miles in NM to memorialize what had happened to him and his fellow soldiers. This is what Wikipedia says, “A death march is a forced march of prisoners of war or other captives or deportees with the intent to kill, brutalize, weaken and/or demoralize as many of the captives as possible along the way. It is distinguished in this way from simple prisoner transport via foot march.” I was so damned impressed with this guy.  He had so much stamina, wit and humility.  He was just brilliant to watch.

Ok … we must leave that area to move on through our day.  BUT, here is to you Col Skardon!  And, here’s to all that sacrificed to the freedoms our country represents.

That was a lot to think through.  It took the air out of our breath.  We have since then refreshed coffee for Rich and us, and we turned on some soft rock radio with the earphones, so that Rich was clear that we needed uninterrupted time to be writing – concentrating.  The dogs been fed and we took our medicine and we are eating – VERY slowly some cottage cheese for breakfast.  On days Rich has off, we try not to require him making us breakfast.  On other days, he ALWAYS makes ham, cheese and mushroom omelets.  Ok, we’re really wondering now.  Need to get a grip again.

@ 8:18 AM Back.  We took a tour and reread what we’d committed to paper so far.  It seems fine and it gets me back on track as to what we were trying to capture.  This was the instrumental sentences that triggered us, “Hmm, we are reading along and we’re thinking … do you know what we’re talking about when we mention different things like inbox, numbering items and then moving them from table of contents, to master notes, and then to monthly overview.  That’s such an important part of our day … for a couple of minutes, would it be ok, if we gave that another look?”

We’ve come a long way in describing what we meant in that paragraph.  We’ve covered inbox, numbering items and moving them to the table of contents and to the master notes – remember all those green links?  The last part is in describing “monthly overview.”  Maybe someone else has covered this material before, but maybe we’re in a teaching mood hehe.  Ok, here goes.  We’re going to take a picture of what our monthly overview looks like – at least a brief part of it.

I LOVE this Snagit Program for capturing screen pictures.  We’re still hoping you can see all that in this last picture by clicking on it.  We’re going on as if that’s the case and we’ll check-it when we post to our blog. For now, though, before explaining the picture, the computer says we need a break, so we’re going to get ready for the nurse who might be here in 30-60 minutes.  BRB
8:42 am Ok, we’re back.  The kitchen had been picked up – though Rich must find a place to put his big new crock pot.  Thinking it’s going out in the sunroom.  We picked-up the bedroom, made the bed, and got dressed.  We had taken a shower last night after finishing the floors. Funny … a lot has happened with the day and it’s not even 9 am … How do people sleep all morning?

We just checked on Rich.  He got on the scale this morning.  It’s been a while SHEESH!  He’s a bit disappointed.  He weighs the same thing he did last time he got on the scale … I don’t know if it’s been two weeks, but he’s not moving the numbers too much.  We must be concerned mostly though with us, because we can do something there.  This morning, we got back to the “60’s” again.  269.6.  There is a lot of room for improvement, but it’s a good start.  Two more pounds and we’ll hit 267 … that’s our special marker weight – it will be the lowest weight we’ve been at in 12-15 years.  We had hit that number a couple weeks ago, but we came way up again, and we hit the weight after stomach surgery.  Got a hold it and go past it this time.  Soon!

Back now to the monthly overview.  We let out the dog and gave us some water – both settling things.  Plus, we reminded Rich we had headphones on.  He’s making the ribs and the rib sauce while watching fishy shows.  Go Rich!

We’re just looking at the right side of the monthly overview – the actual note as it sits in Evernote.  Sometimes, we separate it for manipulating of all our screens, but for now it’s fine.  What you are seeing is almost a month of this calendar.  It starts on the 20th of each month representing a new month on the diet/life style change that started March 19th.  We on the third month YAY!  I believe we’ve gone through this chart before, because I remember listing out the different facets in the statistic part.  You are also familiar with the general information listed because a lot of it is based from the Table of Contents and Master Note.  There are some additions though and one is brand new as of yesterday.

We are now adding a small commentary – the same as we put in our calendar now from Rich’s Trello board.  So Sunday adds, “Evie's birthday 3-7 pm, Rich - Shopping - Evie's bags, remembered Jillian's check, go to boat for lures @ noon, and then to Evie's party 3-7 pm.” That’s not too much more information, but it really helps set our day.  What Rich does matters as to how my days play out.  We could go back to repeat need for headphones problem again!  If Rich is here, or if we need to do other things – affects what we do here at the desk.  This is what Rich’s information looks like today, “Rich - Look at flower beds and picked weeds, dust/spray roses and check vegetables, AND teach Ann to water plants, take care of carpets, do bathrooms, celebrate w/Ann - nice ribs and finish marking-up Vermillion map.” Hmm, we need an update, but …
Hehe – I KNOW you’ve seen this information.  Maybe even on our calendar?  Hey, you haven’t seen that for a bit, hold on – you’ll see the same information is repeated where necessary.

There are a LOT of pictures in this entry.  Welcome to our world!  Hehe

The point of the camera other than stating we take a LOT of medicine to be this well … is that for the first time, Rich’s general plans and ours are combined and this is a VERY interesting new development.  It adds a layer to the relationship.  Like, wow!  Is that what Rich is doing when he leaves here?  Or, Rich – don’t forget you wanted to get slugs when you go to Bass Pro.  It’s like now we’re accessing each other’s banking accounts – and that’s new as well as having a joint safety deposit box – All new hehe.

As to our regular calendar, we’ve really been making use of the “all day” events at the top of the page.  Orange involves Rich.  Light orange is new and is more the notes/cards we’re adding, and then the deeper reddish orange is … hmm, we’ll have to correct that – we have that for the events we do together and the events on his own.  I’m going to want to make that clearer.  It seems a good idea though.  Light for Rich alone and darker for times we’re both doing something.  Hmm, you can tell we’re coming up to that “special” colonoscopy thing.  BLAH!  That’s all we’re going to say there, EXCEPT – it has been a blessing having one place to go for prep instructions.

Hmm, a bit of an update there (can’t seem to hold back), we’ll have to learn to do that as his daily schedule changes – just for that date though, don’t want to get neurotic.  But, this is today for Rich, “Rich - Listen to Zen music and watch fishy shows, make ribs and sauce, finish putting fishing gear together, look at flower beds and pick weeds, dust/spray roses and check vegetables, AND teach Ann to water plants, do bathrooms, help Ann w/ carpets if necessary celebrate w/Ann - nice ribs and finish marking-up Vermillion map.”
Pswhoo!  Think we’re caught up with the calendar, but we’ve veered again from the monthly overview.  We need to nail that part!

Previously, we were noting the calendar started each month on the 20th and ended on the 19th.  AND, you know about Rich’s part, and that we take our information from the table of contents/master note, and somewhere you probably know that we take in information from rescuetime and MyFitnessPal – and there lies the beauty of it all … It just includes so much on our day to day and week to week life. AHA!  And, does it end there?  Nope, hehe … ok back to the part where we really are neurotic.  The next two pages show “segments” of a report we have been working on in excel.  We use the data from the monthly overview so we can spell things out … maybe we’ll add the third part of the report … thinking surely, we posted this before?  Not sure.  But, it is the results of all that survey taking.

Crazy, isn’t it?  Maybe we’ll just give this a couple of moments to sink in.  Yup-yup … every tick makes a difference, but then it gets all merged together, and in the end just a few slim numbers survive.

05-27-17 Perhaps, we could do better than yesterday

Saturday, May 27, 2017 @ 9:50 am
  • @ 10:22 am Good morning.  This is just us.  It is a late mid-morning start to the blog.  I'm trying to be ok with this.  It feels like we REALLY need a blog AA meeting. Know we don't drink often, but we DO have problems avoiding writing, which is the thing we want to be the number one priority.
  • There … we’re going to see how this goes.  We go back and forth, whether, we like to write in Word or Evernote, but we’ve just switched now to Word, with Evernote in the background and although I couldn’t find checkboxes, we still have bullet points, AND we switched the spacing of the lines, so it is now at 1 ½, which make it feel less congested and scary.  We also got our yogurt – this time, peach!  That makes us feel better AND the last time we were up – just a few moments ago, we switched loads, so our first loads are in the washer and dryer.
  • Hmm, just switched interests for a second.  We just started listening for information on Jared Kushner who has a problem recording his conversations to other countries through clan-descent methods. The TV was just turned on, but it is low … maybe we better turn it up a smidge.  I think we’re edgy.  We turned up the TV, but then, we went around the house and picked-up things on the table and opened mail – just two envelopes, and then we brought something back to Rich’s office – well not too much, but the thing is, it seems that when we stand-up – seems like we’re looking forward to it and we’re looking forward to moving and getting stuff done.  Oh, I know … we also cleaned off the table in the living room – like to clean them too.  There, that is done too and then we stopped in the kitchen and cleaned off my clean blender from the top of the stove and we straightened up the top of the microwave.  Very busy bee!
  •  I feel better about doing this entry.  Not sure what we’re going to talk about, besides housekeeping, but I know we’ll get there too.  First thing I see other than the Evernote behind my word document is the Daily dashboard of our rescuetime.  It shows, we’ve been online for four hours and 19 minutes, and that we have a production rate of 84.  The top areas are Business, Communication & Scheduling, and then Reference & Learning.  My big business tasks have been Trello, Evernote, Housecleaning and Rescuetime.  The top Communication & Scheduling areas have been meeting with Rich, going through my emails, and checking out my Google calendar, and then Reference & Learning?  Those areas have been MyFitnessPal and Zillow.
  • A lot can be said for all this.  The biggest thing though is Trello – my number 1 activity of the day.  We’ve been doing some good figuring and moving things along there.  Let’s go back into some of that, because it will spill out the things that we are thinking about.  I would also like to say, we did spend 15 minutes of time with Linda, but not much was covered.  I gave her a copy of our “activities,” but I don’t think she’ll do much with that, and she was headed out the door with Tony.  AND, Rich has been here this morning watching fishing, but he is now at his mother.  He had a couple things to bring her like a ham bone and something picked up at the grocery store, but I think it’s just a regular visit.
  • So, Trello!  Maybe we’ll come in the back door.  I think we’re going to open several boards.  You can have as many as possible, but our main one is under our name, but this SECONDARY one, was a suggestion from Dr. Marin on Thursday.  He suggested, we open a board with hard stuff we can talk about.  Last week, we had our Trello Board set-up and had given him the password so we could talk about it, and I guess this was a good idea, because we are doing something new and interesting that we’d not done before.  We’ll see over time if it works out.  The Board itself is average in its title.  It says, “Board to curate hard things to talk to Dr. Marvin about.”  And then, for now in the background, we happened upon a picture which is now in six tiles, but it is a picture of a sheep jumping – looks like a frolic on a simple greyish background and it says, “When in doubt, FROLIC.  Hehe … I think it’s our way of letting off a little pressure.  It reminds me that in back of all this seriousness there is still fun to be done.
  • So far, we have three categories.  They are problems w/desires to overeat, Rich-like problems, and household problems.  The first card in the first category is about overeating yesterday, and then there is a card about getting Rich to be using Trello before he goes on an eight-day fishing trip this week, and then the household problem is about getting the floor done.  In each, we’ve opened a conversation or more like a checklist of “Problems/Solutions.”  I won’t go into all the details at this time, but reserve my ability to do that later … Now?  Let me see …
  • 5/27/2017 We had another problem on Friday, 052617. We were ok on calories, But was 60% over in carbs and 49% over in sodium it felt like a crisis on Board t…
  • 052717 we were over in that we had our normal protein shake in the afternoon, but then ate bananas, then ate pineapples ... fortunately Rich came home, but we then ate a big dinner of TWO cabbage rolls and had started on chicken "noodle" soup, PLUS knowing all this we kept dessert yogurt
  • 052717 We knew as we were eating that we had to stop, but bullnosed into the next item and next almost w/purpose though we weren't conscientiously understanding what it was
  • 052717 Now the day after, we are doing fine, but feel guilt and shame about yesterday, without knowing what happened to us, or how to stop it.
  • 052717 We always get the faithful part of thinking "we don't care"
  • AHA!  We can do it!  Get the copy of tasks ON the cards to my Word document through copying the “print” version.  We had to clean it up a bit, but it wasn’t impossible.  We also took the link and added it to the title of the card, so if you really WANTED to follow the card, AND it hadn’t been erased by the time you looked, you could look at the card and follow along.  LOVE it!  In discussing the card – eh.  It’s just our problem right now.  It’s a very long-standing program, and because we’ve lost so far, 25 pounds, we do have SOME handle on the problem, just we have bleeps and that means that we still haven’t resolved one of our basic problems on having a strong desire to eat more than we desire.  So, there is that conflict and within a multiple system, we usually say ok … there are parts that want to eat right, and there are parts that want to eat whatever and whenever they want.  Something we know between the two, is that the latter is out more when we are tired and have less resistance.
  •  Maybe if we were Dr. Marvin, we would ask something like why were you tired, or when tired, what could you have done to prevent the overeating.  Like right now we’re thinking the most obvious, is to settle ourselves down to taking a nap until the craving has passed.  I don’t know if that is realistic, though more realistic here at home than if we were out where things could be purchased to eat.  That’s another problem.  ESPECIALLY, if YOU are the one driving the car.  Should we talk about Dr. Marvin’s and BK?  NAW … that was a long time ago.  BUT, that’s what was happening when we drove ourselves, so we better throw in caution now, because soon we’ll be driving ourselves again.  BUT, that is a side issue.  The main issue is eating in the house since that is where we are at most often.
  • I don’t really want to think more about this now though, because we were talking about Trello and I’d like to get back to that.  I’m going to put out a picture of where we are at with the day.  It’s really a double picture, but you get the idea, right?  It’s a wide screen čśŐ

  • @12:39 pm We’re back.  It’s now after lunch, and Rich had come home and is napping, and we’re still washing clothes and we re-cleaned the kitchen after Rich was through there, and we’ve checked through our lists of things to do.  We updated a few things.  Nothing much here … Let’s get back to the Trello program.  We HAD been on the board for Dr. Marvin, but that one only has a few things.  Let’s go back to the main purple boards pictured above.  BTW – if you click on those pictures, you’ll be able to read them YAY!
  • The main part is that you have easy to make – by hit of return columns and cards within the columns and either are extremely easy to move around.  We have 13 cards right now.  They are: open for now, in progress – today, in progress – tomorrow, Quick tasks, in progress – later, to read later when there is time, moderate tasks, long-lasting tasks, questions, tasks for Rich, Rich’s work (PPA) tasks, completed tasks & resources.
  •  In the first row – open for now – We have condensed the tasks down to four.  The first one – by design – is a doozy.  It’s our “lite” tasks to be done immediately during the day.  I think we may have talked a little about this before, but there are checklists within the major task.  The first is that we are getting pop-up windows from someone named reflect that is the first task.  We are going back and forth.  I send them a note, they send me an auto note saying they will consider it soon BAH!  The next item on the checklist is the steps to taking care of the kitchen floor, then we have a training video to watch, then laundry, and now a “situation” with Walmart.  They want to charge us more money than we believe they should be charging us.
  • The next cards are simpler … the first reminds us to make notes in Dr. Marvin’s new board, then one note to work on taking pictures of ALL the old receipts for the year, and then the last one to look for Advocate Home Care to call us for our new C-pap machine.  Woohoo!
  • The things in the next list – in progress – today have five things listed – most of these things were condensed and some have been moved over to the next column which is the things to repeat the next day.  I always have a card reminding us to maintain our routines of learning and curiosity, work, play, health, medicine and then food, drink & water.  After that, we have a long reminder to check Trello, Evernote, emails, phone calls, MyFitnessPal and Rescuetime during the day.  Then is my blogging reminder – and after that I’ve only got spending quality time with Rich and the animals.
  • The stuff for tomorrow, we already did today was first the part we collected our morning stats, then we checked news and our clarity journal.  Then was our big task of sorting/clearing the inbox, numbering the items, and then moving them through from table of contents, to master notes, and then to Monthly overview.  Believe me – that’s all necessary for everything else to work in our life.  I’ve also got reminders for working on my Financial Peace homework and sorting papers in the desk’s cubbyhole.
  • I think we’re going to stop there because everything else is lists for something that we’re not working on right now – and maybe not even working on at all for the entire day.  Maybe we should check that out – it would help us condense our worry load.  I suppose the way the process is supposed to work are that there are a few “free” lists with stuff to do, but the main lists are the easy, medium and harder things to do, so it would depend on how busy we were as to getting other things done.  Like are any of those goals, we want to work on over the weekend?  I think that the FPU card – includes working on the budget and that’s a BIG task.  BUT, it’s time dated too.  Our leader in the group wants everyone to come up with a budget for June and that is only three days until the next class she wants to look at it, and two more days til the start of the new month.  Everyone wants procedures in place.
  • I can be VERY sure that after that tasks and some mentioned earlier, we have no more time for other big tasks.  The biggest and hardest to let go is the editing work on our e-book.  We had hoped to push that along, but I don’t think it’s happening.  The budget project is too big.  Maybe we can scan over the list to assure nothing else has priority, and then set some time goals for how long tasks are supposed to take and then schedule them into my day – YES and still get laundry done.  Oh, and Rich wants me to go to his club with him later today to get stuff out of his boat for the big trip.  PLUS, it’s 1 pm, and we’re not even dressed yet.  SHEESH!
  • Hmm, just a little interruption.  Just had to wrangle with Rich to clear some time to go over the Trello.  Basically, what we’re asking for is ANN-TIME!  We went back and forth and he’s listing out stuff – none of it is thought through, but it’s taking a whole weekend.  THIS is what we’re trying to prevent – this getting blown away with things, because it isn’t ordered.  I KNOW what he goes through before fishing and it is a terrible time for both, and then when he gets back, he goes through the same terrible time.  This is going to prevent it by organizing and PLACING it somewhere so he doesn’t have to worry about it, but still has a place to find it nice and neat when he gets back.
  • What we finally got out of him was that he was going out in the yard or in the garage to do fishy stuff, for the next 3 hours.  Fine!  Then he has an hour off to chill – between 4-5 pm, and then he’s going to make dinner, and then we’re BOTH going to do the boat, and then AFTER the boat, when it is getting darker, he will sit with me and go through Trello.  If he hasn’t closed his ears all the way, he will have some idea of what’s going to happen, but most likely he’s closed-off.  What will happen is that we’re going to give him a five-minute tour, but mostly, we are going to open his own board – call it like he may.
  • Hmm, he just went through again.  He was reminding us of this or that, we were forgetting just remembered the part where we asked what we were going to eat.  Hmm, and then another time spurt – we got our message we’re trying to pay attention to where every 55 minutes, we stop what we’re doing at the computer, and for five minutes, we do something else.  This last time, we went in to the bedroom, and looked at our bench under the window.  It had some stuff that didn’t belong there, so we figured out where it goes, and then distributed it, and then we found our coat in the sunroom and figured it should go in the wash, so we brought it there.  Surprisingly, we only have 1100 steps for the day, but then we started two hours of our day where we didn’t wear the Fitbit, because it was charging.  *Sigh* I think we left off on we were looking to see if ANYTHING other than blogging and budgeting had to be done.  Wait again, please čśŐ  Oh and we have to do the boat and Trello with Rich, but THEN today is done
  • Ok, good, great!  I can honestly say that I don’t have to do anything else today, except blog and budget and boat and Trello.  Shoot should have surveyed anything for tomorrow except the routines? must do floor, but other than that – tomorrow we can skip the blog and just do the budget … NOTHING ELSE.  AND, what’s more, if we could just straighten out where we left off, we could probably set it up right now so that it’s ready to be productive tomorrow.  OK?  Let’s just do that part čśŐ
  • @ 5:02 pm Yay ... we're making progress, though somewhat slow and balky.  We did a big push on the wash, and now everything is put away and the bed is made - thanks to Rich's help.  He's been inside for about 45 minutes and we watched and played with him as he tried on his rain suite ... give me a few moments for uploading and I will post a few cute ones hehe.  He's my perfect person.  If you read this and you are relating to his friend, PLEASE don't tell him about the pictures.  We want to post them with our regular stuff, but he'd prefer not to be seen.  Little conflict. Pretty soon we’re going to have dinner … Rich has been in the kitchen for 15 minutes!  It doesn’t seem like too long, because we had to fix the pictures.  Just ONE picture, really – they are all grouped together.  Can’t blame me for that – ISN’T he CUTE!??  He’s getting ready for fisheyland.

Things are just so cool - Hottest? Trello is in and Meistertask is out

Thursday May 25, 2017 @ 9:11 am

  • Good morning!  This is just me.  We're getting a start on it although it's going to be short and choppy today - there's a lot of things on our plate.  The basic stuff is Dr. Marvin on the phone at 11 am, then working with Rich cleaning, and then picking up new shoes at 2 pm and then Jillian and Chris will be here for dinner about 6 pm - HENCE probably some more cleaning in-between things.  I should be starting now, but we get beside ourselves if we don't get in our work too.  Today, that includes our blog ... YUP ... it is work!  But, the kind I LOVE to do when we tear ourselves away from all the things keeping us from it.  Today we were working down our schedule, and we'll leave in a few moments to go finish a few more tasks, but so far - so good for having woken up late in the morning - 7 am!  BLAH.  We also had to take care of Dakota and ourselves in there, and we had to eat breakfast.  SOOO, not much time on the computer yet and we're feeling it in anxiousness.  Have to watch that.
  • So far online, we have taken care of a long list of stuff on AOL.  It meant setting up a video for later from Steve Dotto, and we gathered a list of things we wanted to read later.  This is it

  • yup yup ... these are the kinds of thing we think about now days.  Most of this though is that we've built up certain feeds through emails and articles to be coming to our email each day.  Included in this group are about 100 titles I search through - the longer ones we are going to be saving for a lax part of the day, and the ones - especially the writing ones, we tend to read write away if they are short enough.  We've also by now picked up a few news stories, but not as much today as we did yesterday.  There was a lot happening.  I would consider the above in these categories: writing, apps, education, psychology and finances.  At least that is how they will get listed when they get processed through to saved in Evernote.  Our systems are always changing a bit at a time as we figure out more and more clearly how we want to process our life.  More on Trello and Meistertask in a minute.  You blinked?  Unfortunately Meistertask only had a couple days with us.  Dr. Marvin mentioned the other like task board - Trello, and sure enough after a very conscientious deliberation yesterday, we chose Trello.  AGAIN, more on that later.  BUT, for now, we're going to go down the line and see what we can knock out of our Progress-today tasks ... these are just are standard things to be doing.  We'll give you a visual ... though it's a lot more directive and a lot less pictures - caveat on that later hehe

  • Ok, ok ... did a few things back for a second - you want a REAL peak at Trello?  Not a lot of pictures like mentioned above, but she's beautiful and sleek!

AHA - Meistertask Attack!

Monday May 22, 2017 @ 10:05 am

  • Good morning.  This is us and we are FINALLY here.  It is just past 10 am, and other than seeing the nurse who is now over an hour late ... that's all the "other" business we'll be doing today.  As to now?  The kitchen is picked-up and the dishwasher is ready to go after lunch, we are on the second load of clothes - Rich's wet fishy stuff, and the house is all picked up including the table and the mail that was on it.  I'd say we're doing well.  Also our online business is about caught up especially our Evernote projects, and we reviewed the last entry in our blog and posted it.  We had forgotten to do that before.  Also, we are all showered and dressed.  YAY!  Good stuff!
  • One of the first things, we wanted to discuss this morning, as well as laundry - you know how strong we feel in favor of that!  Hehe, but otherwise, we started ANOTHER new program over the weekend when Rich was out fishing.  It is called Meistertask.  It is a kanban like board that you write things you are working on and the things that you complete.  You can have as many columns as you want and things can move around.  The above is a picture of how ours looks from the start.
  • The items scroll up so there are quite a few under the ones pictured, but this is the opening board, so far, and for those obvious reasons this board is called MeisterAnn1.  WooHOO!  There is another board we created to test out the product, but after we agreed to the ransom of $9 a month, we started our real one.  I think we can get it for $7.50 a month if we sign up for a year at a time, but then we have to pay the annual fee up front ... and I REALLY wanted to test its usefulness before we made that kind of money commitment.  I do have to say that I tend to LOVE all the new gadgets coming up through the lines.  I'm not sure exactly where I found this, but everybody is referring something or another.  Yesterday, from two different reading lists, I purchased two books.  I know, I know ... where is the time?  One list was from Bill Gates - and you KNOW he's a great reader!  And, then the other list was from TED Talks.  I love the books.  One in particular I started is a book about storytelling.  It catches my interest in that back in the days of Dr. Woollcott (1990-1997), he had told us that all of us write our own mythology.  It is an ongoing story about our life as we are developing it.  I'm thinking with this kind of interest the book has to be good, and sure enough here we are this morning back to writing OUR story through the blog.  Things just go like that in my life.  Things happen the way they are supposed to happen.  So going back to Meistertask board ... let's see how that goes.
  • Hmm, we have a silly "reflect" tab that keeps popping up in our Evernote field of vision.  Hate it.  We've gone over a couple times trying to find it in our programs, but we haven't had any luck.  Then over the weekend, we sent a complaint to their people asking for instructions on how to get it off.  It's like malware.  I know they are doing it trying to get us back into their program, but things like this can tick us off for a LONG time!  We just wrote a note to check on it.
  • This is our notes so far of "lite" to-do things:
    • Call Carol and confirm the quilting weekend and rent a room
    • Remind Rich it's Evie's birthday on Sunday - cuz we KNOW he'll want to get a gift
    • Remember to read the colonoscopy directions (10 days away)
    • Look into a new scale - ours is jumping 7-8 pounds every other day
    • Ask Rich if he wants to do anything on Memorial Day with me
    • Check on the progress of removing the pop-up "reflect" tab
    • Follow-up with four prescriptions (Two doctors) at Walmart and shopping list we gave Rich
  • Not too bad ... that and doing laundry - haven't heard the dryer beep yet.  We are being amazed with ourselves.  I think we started laundry about 8:30 am.  This is a GREAT time for us.  Actually, anything before 11 am is a good time.  Hehe  We also got a call from Amie saying she was running late and was it still ok to come, and we said yes.  But, we reminded her next week when the new gym program starts, we won't be able to be as tolerant.  We could try getting on her list first in the morning, but she seems busy already, so I don't think we are going to able to jar her schedule.  The other thing would be to change it up so we would be seeing her in the afternoon.  We'll see how things go over the next two weeks.  I don't want her worrying my schedules though ... too many things we're trying to do right.
  • Ok, back to the Meistertask program.  I don't like the part where it seems to be moving slowly as to bringing up the pictures we placed on each of the tasks.  That was sort of one of the fun things - putting the pictures to match the task from things that are already in our computer that don't see the light of day as much as they should.  BUT, we LOVE the concept.  We had gotten the post-it notes for trying something the same way, but we finally figured that the wall behind the printer or stool are too distant, and we'd have to stand, and still have problem seeing our notes, plus, we'd have to get it past Rich.  I don't think he'd agree to anything less formal in the living room/desk space.  I think the slowness of the pictures is just my Internet.  We know it to be slow, and it is showing up on downloading and saving things like when we wanted top post our blog.
  • some of the nice things about the Task program is that I get a visual on what I'm supposed to be doing.  Formally, we haven't used the calendar reminder thing on evernote for the last three weeks.  I don't know why it happened, just that it did.  I think we glanced at the notes we'd abandoned and placed the ones we were still interested in on the Task board.  It is easy enough to access the Evernote reminder program, and I'd like to think we're just resting with it, but I can't give you the reason we're avoiding it. Maybe it is going to be similar to the task board, in that there are just too many tasks, and in the end we avoid them like the plague and do whatever we want.  YEEKS, I hope we are not this terrible in real life.  Just we are very pore at keeping up.  Let's make some lists here to see how we're doing with the tasks and which columns they fold out on.
  • OPEN
    • Sort through papers in cubby hole and then file
    • Laundry Day today & BLOGGING - in progress
    • Complete the tasks though up this morning (see above)
